Track Details

Each lap of The Ridge Motorsports Park road circuit thrills with high speed straights and sweeper turns, huge compression’s and blind weightless crests, challenging esses, a long carousel turn where you walk the tightrope between speed and grip, a double apex turn leading to another valley and cresting turn leading into a heavy braking zone, a short sprint between tight turns and finally a breathtaking plunge down the ridge into a technically difficult sequence of turns, before going hammer down on the front straight again! All of this in a park-like forest setting, with stunning territorial and mountain views.

The Ridge Track history

The Ridge traces back to Rod Powell, an Olympia businessman who sold his medical-device company and found early retirement didn't suit him. A visit to Thunderhill Raceway Park in California rekindled his interest in racing, and word that he was hunting for land reached Joe Manke, a timber and tugboat businessman who had dreamed of owning a track since childhood. Manke's son suggested a parcel of family land near Shelton, Washington, and the project came together from there. Development began in 2009, ground broke in April 2011, and the track opened in May 2012 with a Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association event. Designer Steve Crawford, who also penned Thunderhill, laid out a 2.47-mile, 16-turn circuit with more than 300 feet of elevation change per lap. Today The Ridge hosts MotoAmerica, SCCA and NASA events, vintage racing, and Hooked On Driving's HPDE days.

Activities in the Area

The Ridge sits in Shelton, Washington, gateway to the Olympic Peninsula, so a track weekend here comes with plenty of nature and a little indulgence. For a change of pace, Little Creek Casino Resort is minutes away with gaming, dining, a spa, and a Gene Bates-designed golf course. Outdoor lovers can head into Olympic National Forest for old-growth trails like Staircase Rapids, or explore Hood Canal, known for scuba diving, salmon fishing, and some of the best oysters and shellfish in the Pacific Northwest. History buffs can stop by the Mason County Historical Society Museum in downtown Shelton to learn about the area's logging roots. And with Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens visible from the track itself, the drive in and out is a scenic bonus of its own. Between the track, the water, and the mountains, there's enough here to turn a track day into a full Pacific Northwest getaway.

Customer Reviews for The Ridge Motorsports Park

This is my favorite track in the PNW. I occasionally do track days here... Even just coming here to watch events is an awesome thing to do. Nice and clean facilities with a cafe that has some delicious food. If you haven't visited this place, make sure you take the time to do so, especially if it's for driving the track!

Love This track! Always... action on the track, good little cafe with burgers wraps and more, and if you’re not someone who’s getting on the track that day, multiple viewing bleachers for spectators. And if you get the need for some fun while spectating, they’ve got go karts running in the weekends!

Brandon B

It's my favorite track. Well equipped with rentable garages and amenities to be able to somewhat comfortably camp there. Has a small gift shop and cafe that serves food and drinks... Has a go kart track that a mini version of the actual road circuit.

Ok, so this place is heaven on earth for race cars, drivers, and enthusiasts alike. Don't have a race car, HPDE track car, or even a car? That's alright, you can go-kart instead!! If you're a spectator, bring your comfy shoes, sun block, and a hat that matches the season so you can enjoy all the vantage points...

It seems like the track just keeps getting better and better. Been going here of and on over the years and the improvements are amazing. They have a bridge to pass over the track and grandstands that let you see a much larger portion of the track. They have a Cafe that tends to get overwhelmed occasionally but has good food and a decent variety, a little pricey but not bad considering. They have a restrooms as well as sani-cans all over. They also have a go cart track and a gift shop.

Robert H

Had a killer track day experience with my group of friends. The staff was just great, and everyone was nice and friendly too! They had plenty of bathrooms all around the track and viewing areas. Cafe was perfect for a quick bite to eat or something cold on a hot track day. Also priced reasonably with very tasty food, so we all tipped extra and who doesn't enjoy that!

Wesley C

The backdrop of the track is stunning! The track is well-maintained, there are several sets of bleachers, lots of food trucks, and the potties were clean.

Jimmi S

Awesome track. Great views of track in multiple locations. Always a great time. Very clean also.
